This policy explains how we handle your personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation 2016/679) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD).

2. What data we collect

  • Car request form: name, email, phone/WhatsApp number, the car you're looking for, budget, timeline, country of residence and any message you write.
  • Direct contact: data you send us by email, WhatsApp or phone.
  • Client services: if you hire us, identity and vehicle details needed for purchase, transfer and registration (e.g. NIE, passport, address).
  • Browsing data: cookies and similar technologies, only with your consent where required. See our Cookie Policy.

3. Why we use it and legal basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal — steps taken at your request before a contract (Art. 6.1.b GDPR) and your consent (Art. 6.1.a).
  • To deliver our services — performance of a contract (Art. 6.1.b).
  • To meet accounting, tax and legal obligations — legal obligation (Art. 6.1.c).
  • Analytics and marketing cookies — your consent (Art. 6.1.a), which you can withdraw at any time.

We do not sell your data and do not use it for automated decision-making.

4. How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a service are deleted within 12 months. Client data is kept for the duration of the service and afterwards for the periods required by law (generally up to 6 years for accounting and tax purposes).

5. Who we share it with

Only where necessary: website hosting and email providers acting as processors under data processing agreements; and, if you hire us, sellers, inspectors, gestorías, transport companies and the DGT as needed to complete your purchase. Some providers may process data outside the EEA under European Commission adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Your rights

You can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time, by emailing hello@carshopperspain.com with proof of identity. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) at www.aepd.es.

7. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse or unauthorised access.

We may update this policy. The latest version will always be published on this page.
